On December 2-4th The Gamaliel Foundation held their annual ILA in Chicago, Illinois.  31 leaders of WISDOM attended this event which brought together approximately 250 leaders of similar organizations from across the country (see the photo of our own Pastor Amy Becker with our SOPHIA banner at the ILA). It was attended by people of all races and different ethnic and religious backgrounds and offered the opportunity to share our similar values and vision and learn from each other’s stories. It began and ended with worship services and was grounded in prayer throughout the three days. Speakers and workshops were focused on issues such as immigration, transportation, health equity, education, jobs, leadership, spirituality of justice work, tools for rapid response and fundraising.  The attendees also had the opportunity to take part in an action on immigration and an action on a local issue of getting a bus route changed to better accommodate ridership.  This year was a milestone for the Gamaliel Foundation as long time founding executive director Greg Galluzzo passed on his title to Ana Garcia-Ashley.  Ana was a former WISDOM organizer for MICAH in Milwaukee and will become the new executive director as of January 1, 2011.
