On January 12th, 2011 WISDOM will be holding a statewide meeting in Madison from 10 am to 3 pm. A broad range of people from law enforcement, public health, policy makers, public officials and community advocacy groups in Madison will convene to begin a serious conversation about Treatment Instead of Prison: Alternatives to Incarceration.
Treatment Instead of Prison (TIP) has been SOPHIA’s premier issue and SOPHIA’s TIP committee has won many concrete victories in Waukesha County. SOPHIA will be involved in this working meeting. By bringing together leaders, experts and practitioners people together from many places and disciplines, we hope to help shape an effort that can benefit all the people of our state. Many people attending this meeting already have done much work and given serious thought to the issue of incarceration, addiction and mental health and have led reform efforts in many places.
If you or any one you know would be interested in contributing to this discussion, or for more details please contact Ralph Schultz at 262-446-1807,
