Affordable Housing Forum to Address Solutions to High Housing Costs

On Saturday May 8, community groups are holding an Affordable Housing Forum at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Steinhafel’s Furniture Superstore, W231 N1013 County Hwy F (just south of I-94).  A free continental breakfast will be offered at 9:30 a.m.  SOPHIA (Stewards of Prophetic, Hopeful, Intentional Action) and the Affordable Housing Task Force in Waukesha County are hosting the event to raise awareness and support for more affordable homes in Waukesha County communities for the people who live or work in them.

The keynote speaker will be Bernie Juno, Executive Director of Hebron House of Hospitality and member for the Waukesha County Housing Action Coalition.  She will address the problem of insufficient affordable housing in the county and some of the successes of Hebron House of Hospitality in meeting the county’s housing needs.  Participants in the forum will also have the opportunity to find out where to get reputable low-interest loans, to win door prizes, and to learn how to support state and local policies to create more homes for the workforce.

The event is free and open to the public.  An RSVP is encouraged, to bfosscamp@wi.rr.com.  For disability accommodations, contact bpeters@independencefirst.org by May 1.
