End Torture in Wisconsin

After being available at Edgewood College in Madison last week, our Solitary Confinement replica cell will move to Marquette University in Milwaukee next week and will be available for people to sign up for 45 minutes inside.  Two journalists have already reserved space.  We will sponsor a Public Forum on the issue at Marquette on Wednesday evening.

This issue is getting a lot of attention around the state.  Channel 3000, the ABC affiliate in Madison, broadcast a strong editorial: "Solitary confinement is immoral and ineffective. It is also considerably more expensive than housing an inmate in the general population. But one of the reasons for its existence is a lack of public outcry. That outcry is growing. We hope to grow it further."

Add your voice to the public outcry:

  • Click here to write a quick message to Governor Walker.  Tell him why you want solitary confinement ended in Wisconsin's prisons.
  • Participate in our Madison Action Day on April 29 to add your voice to the call for reform.
  • Speak out at one of the Joint Finance Committee Hearings, or stand with us at 10:00 at each of the hearings when WISDOM leaders make prepared statements.  Details are here.
