SOPHIA Film Fest focuses on Immigration Issues
SOPHIA will be holding a film festival in February and March on the need for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Join us as we delve into our broken immigration system.
On Saturday, March 10th, the video shown will be 9500 Liberty. This documentary, which initially began as a collection of YouTube clips, tells the story of what happened in Prince William County near Washington DC., when in 2007, the county made the decision to implement an Arizona-style immigration law. This documentary provides a very well crafted view of how this decision impacted the entire county from both sides of the immigration reform issue. Some of the wonderful pieces include actual footage from county board meetings, with local citizens speaking their minds.
Saturday, March 10th – First Congregational, United Church of Christ, Waukesha (100 East Broadway, Waukesha)
Both viewings will start at 9 am, will include refreshments, and will be followed by lively, informative discussions.
If you have questions, contact Ron at 262-408-2029.
On Saturday, February 11th, the video Dying to Live was shown. This video is a comprehensive look at immigration issues from several points of view - north of the border, south of the border and at the border. This film reflects on the human struggle for a better, more dignified life.
